Flip Fest!!

Competition season is over, and your kiddo has shared last hugs with classmates and teachers.  Summer is here and if you’ve got gymnastics summer camp on your schedule, I’m willing to bet there is a countdown happening in your house!

Honestly, I don’t know what could be more thrilling for a young, thriving, hard-working gymnast then FLIP FEST GYMNASTICS CAMP.  (I suppose the Olympics would be up there.)   But, comparing FLIP FEST to the Olympics is a bit like comparing strawberries to oranges in the way that an orange takes some work before you get to the sweet goodness, but a strawberry….just dive right in to delish!!

Every kindergarten teacher prepares for the first day of school knowing they will need to deal with the emotional stability of those in their care….the parents.  This milestone for parents swells the heart and requires a great deal of deep breathing to keep the tears from spilling over.

The dropping off your athlete for the first time at sleepover summer camp is another emotional overload for parents.  Thankfully there are seasoned parents, coaches and educators who have been there, and can offer a great deal of help in preparing.

Imagine a program that offers a full schedule of cheer, gymnastics, special needs, and ninja classes. Now picture putting all of the equipment you need for those programs into a van and traveling to 4 different locations every week to service kids in low income areas.

When connecting tumbling skills to a pass or series, let's say a round-off to back-handspring, there is a relevance to the length of the tumbling pass. In general, the goal is to make your round-off back-handspring as long and stretched out as possible. The Tumbl Tape is a tool that helps athletes see improvements in the length of their tumbling skills. [More]

From the Experts: The Road to the NCAA

Posted on 5/15/2017
USA Olympic Athletes and NCAA athletics go hand in hand. Last summer, of the 555 competing USA Olympians, 417 represented incoming, current and former NCAA Athletes. First college athletics, then on to the Olympics - makes sense, right? Unless the sport is women's gymnastics where the competition path most often take the athletes to the Olympics or World Championship Events before the age of college eligibility.  [More]

My family benefitted from martial arts and continues to benefit today, even 20 years later.  We all still use the lessons learned and hope that they bring harmony into our lives and help up to be the best we can each day. [More]

How does your program encourage healthy decisions?

Fueling an athletes body should be considered the 6th event. Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, Mental Training, and FUELING your child’s body all equally important to a well-rounded gymnast. Consider this the next time you reach for a snack or food for your child.

Thinking about Martial Arts for your kiddo?   There are many types of martial arts to choose from, each with their own history and unique style.  Karate is a well known, centuries old, Japanese style of martial arts.  Tae Kwon Do, the Korean art of self defense, has been practiced for more than 2000 years and has evolved to be an Olympic Sport!
